We've made a great start to the
new term with the children
getting very excited about our
new theme subject, World War 2.
We will look at this hugely
important period of history for
it's affect on ordinary people
across the world. So far we have
learnt about the two different
sides, Hitler and the start of
the war, evacuation, civilian
bombing and the rationing of
food.
We are currently planning a
World War 2 day where we will
recreate life as a child during
WW2 and our school trip on
November 25 will include a visit
to the war museum at
Kanchanaburi.
The classic children's story,
The Lion, The Witch and the
Wardrobe, has been at the centre
of our Language Arts module this
term - Adventure and Mystery
stories. We have been learning
about 'story mountains' and how
to make our writing more
exciting and dramatic.
The subjects of 'decimals' and
'telling the time' has been the
focus of our maths lessons so
far this term and the children
have been doing well in these
potentially tricky areas.
We will be taking part in the
whole school United Nations Day
later this month, with mixed
class bi-lingual teaching. The
UN Day is aimed at developing
children's awareness of the
global world we live in and the
current issues that affect our
planet. P3 will be exploring
themes related to Holocaust
Memorial Day as this fits in
with our World War
lessons. We will examine this
potentially upsetting and
sensitive issue by focusing on
accepting differences of belief
and challenging bullying.
Please feel free to contact us
via the pink books if you have
any questions.
Best regards,
Miss Andre, Mr Wilkinson, Mr
East.
