The Key Stage 4 homeroom system
is an integral part of the
academic and pastoral program at
Key Stage 4. Homeroom is where
students have time to get ready
for their day, to gather their
books, to complete assignments,
or to prepare for quizzes and
tests after the Thai National
Anthem and prayers. Important
notices are announced at this
time also. Every student is
required to bring a homework
diary to school every day that
homeroom teachers check every
week. In this diary students
write down homework and teachers
write notes communicating
concerns with parents.

Awarding of Commendations

The most important part of
homeroom are the relationships
Key Stage 4 teachers develop
with their students. Three of
the five homerooms have both
Thai teachers as well as foreign
teachers who work together
solving problems and being a
supportive presence for
students. Both English and Thai
are used so every day students
experience two languages. It is
this bilingual experience that
students negotiate each day that
separates Amnuay Silpa from the
experience of students in
international schools. Students
at Amnuay Silpa, along with
their teachers, must reconcile
not just two languages, but two
world views. This very endeavor,
this struggle, lies at the heart
of bilingual education, and
forms the foundation of the work
of students and teachers at
Amnuay Silpa.
