ICT Rooms

There are two ICT rooms in the secondary school with around thirty computers and one interactive whiteboard in each room.  ICT teachers control student access and an upgraded server will be procured for the 2008-2009 academic year.  Students will be responsible for maintaining electronic portfolios in a shared area.

 Library

The newly refurbished library has ten computers providing remote access for teachers and students to conduct research using a wide variety of fiction, nonfiction, and reference materials.  All of the resources in the library are databased for convenient use by teachers and students in gathering information.  Ms. Paier, the librarian, offers assistance for students in their research projects and is slowly acquiring more materials.

Examination Rooms

Several spaces can be used for examination rooms including a large room next the library as well as regular classrooms.  As a Cambridge Center it is important that students taking IGCSE exams have a quiet room with no distractions.

 Secure Storage

Examination materials will be kept in a secure cabinet in the IGCSE administration room.  The IGCSE room is where all correspondence with CIE takes place and where all of the examinations records are kept.

 Drama Room

The drama studio is a recent addition to the secondary school and it is fully equipped with light and sound board equipment.  Being an intimate space the studio provides an easily accessible platform for English teachers to develop skits and scene studies in a theatrical environment.  It is on stage where the primacy of oral language reigns supreme.  In drama classes and productions at Amnuay Silpa students get a chance to share stories with one another in innovative ways in both Thai and English.

Science Laboratory

Amnuay Silpa's state-of-the-art science laboratory provides a wide range of chemicals, biological resources, and physics equipment for students learning hands on through experiments.  Two of the three rooms in the science department have interactive whiteboards and the experimental work benches all have power, running water, and facilities for gas.  A gas leakage warning system is also made available for safety concerns.  In addition to fully resourced laboratories, a full-time lab technician provides valuable assistance with the preparation of experiments.

 Cambridge Students

One of the exciting things about being a Cambridge International Center is the support provided for students.  Students have access to a wide range of resources to help them with passing their IGCSE examinations including the following:

                                    ·  revision checklists

                                    ·  past papers and model answers

                                    ·  simulations

                                    ·  frequently asked questions

                                    ·  study and revision tips

Professional Development

As a Cambridge International Center teachers and students will have access to a vast amount of resources to be used for teaching and learning.  The Curriculum and Teacher Support (CTS) Group provides professional development opportunities to support teachers in their instruction of CIE courses including the following:

∙  support materials training and professional development

                                    ∙  a curriculum resource bank

                                    ∙  CIE syllabuses

                                    ·  schemes of work

                                    ∙  suggestions about teaching

∙  teaching activities and recommended resources

CIE Training

Cambridge teacher courses

Cambridge offers introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses to prepare teachers in delivering IGCSE courses.  Teachers can learn in online sessions led by tutors, learn at home using distance packets, or learn face to face in workshops held throughout the world.  One of the highlights of the CIE courses are opportunities to engage in discussions with other professionals throughout the world in discussion groups who are teaching the same courses.
